Abstract: Existing mainstream HRD views are based on western open context and are a function of its financially sponsored host institutional systems (HIS) for the purpose of serving the HISs’ requirements. Research in non-mainstream, closed contexts challenges the application of HRD findings in the open HIS contexts to the HISs in closed context, and vice versa. Therefore, it is unlikely that HRD can benefit the whole of humanity in the contemporary world. Attendees of this session will participate in small group dialogue, debate, and brainstorming to explore theorizing opportunities and ethical implications for HRD in extended contexts for new knowledge production.
