Abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that motivate students to choose STEM as a career based on the Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT). The research question guiding this study was: What are the perceptions of students concerning STEM majors as a career choice. Qualitative research was conducted and the key themes identified in this study were the followings: To know the Unknown (being inquisitive), To Gain Hands-on Experience, Possibility of a Different Career Choice, and Financial and Job Security.
