Facilitation of Problem-Based Learning: A Train-the-Trainer Model

Abstract: Problem-Based Learning (PBL) uses real-world, authentic problems to facilitate active learning, collaborative problem solving, critical thinking, and real-time knowledge exploration. The workshop instructors propose a PBL workshop where participants will learn about the essentials of PBL, experience the PBL process within a small group setting, and learn how to evaluate PBL. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to understand the essentials of PBL and facilitate a PBL tutor group dedicated to solving problems collectively. After the workshop, the facilitators will ask participants to evaluate their learning experience in conjunction with a learning environment and facilitation quality.
