Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships among career behavior, occupational self-efficacy, job characteristics, meaningful work, and career satisfaction for female managers. Data from 1,126 responses were analyzed using structural equation modeling to examine the relationships among the variables. The results indicated direct effects of career behavior on occupational self-efficacy and career satisfaction. In addition, occupational self-efficacy was positively related to meaningful work. Job characteristics was also found to affect meaningful work and career satisfaction. Finally, meaningful work was positively related to career satisfaction. This study builds a more comprehensive understanding of career satisfaction by adopting social cognitive career theory (SSCT) and providing theoretical logic for how multiple variables can function together.
